Learn To Sign:

Never Enough – The Greatest Showman

Holly Jolly Christmas – Michael BublĂ©

Black Magic – Little Mix

My name is Rylie

My name is Rylie and I have been learning Sign language since september 2017. It all started on a Geophraphy field trip. I recently found out my best friend’s parents were deaf. We had lots of time on our hands on this trip, so she decided to teach me the alphabet.

I was so intrigued and I watned to learn more, so as we walked through Clapham Beck River, she taught me to sing songs in sign. We started with “Bah Bah Black Sheep” and moved on to songs like, “I Kissed a girl” by Katy Perry.

I finally met her parents and I worked so hard on simple signs to communicate and tell them about my life. In November 2017, her parents invited me to a log cabin in the Yorkshire dales, and it was there I really began learning sign. It was the only thing I was thinking about. I think her parents were impressed, they wouldn’t stop smiling when I signed to them.

When I left school I started seeing my best friend less, and so I started teaching myself sign by watching YouTube videos.

Sign Gave Me Confidence

Sign gave me confidence I never knew I had. When I sign a song, I really feel the lyrics. I have no choice but to be constantly thinking about them in order to sign them. When I sign, all of my passion goes into it and it’s very rewarding.

Teaching Others

Now I have begun teaching others. I recently taught my friends how to sign “Never Enough” by the greatest showman ensamble. The girls performed the song beautifully and I cried a little bit. It was like I was able to share all this passion and effort I had put into sign for the last year. It was so rewarding to see it all happen. This is why I want to encourage as many people as possible to learn sign language.

Sign with Rylie

Sign with Rylie allows hearing people to connecct with the deaf, through song. I find it is easier to learn sign language when there is a rhythm and pattern involved, as it turns it into a dance! I hope you get involved by watching some of my videos and learning a little sign yourself.
